New Tank Terminal, Årvoll

Project Description

A new tank terminal is to be established at Årvoll outside of Moss, to replace the old terminal located at Kambo.

NLI Scope

NLI Engineering AS has developed P&Id’s, a total 3D model of the new plant and EPC of all piping structural and E&I needed for the tank farms.

The 3D model consists of civil (concrete scope delivered by KM-Bygg), 4 existing tanks and 5 pumps (delivered by NSO), 9 new tanks (delivered by SRC Nordic), valves (delivered by JS Cook) as well as our own EPC scope. Layout has been part of our scope and the 3D model were produced by use of Aveva PDMS. For review purpose, we have produced Navis Models on a regular basis throughout the project duration.

When developing P&ID’s for the plant, NLI has contributed actively in finding flexible routing of flows and thereby added value for the client. P&ID’s were made by use of MicroStation. Dimensioning of pipe sizes, flowrates, selection of valves and pumps has been client responsibility. NLI has performed the total E&I development for the plant.

Structural delivery includes 1 staircase connecting tank farm 1 and 2, 2 stairways for escape route, drip tray for duplex filters and all necessary pipe support structures.
The piping scope consists of two 2” headers and connection to all tanks, in addition to a pump room and 3 filling stations, as well as all necessary pipe support. All piping insulated, apart from inside pump room.

NLI Engineering AS has installed mechanical equipment delivered by the client, such as pumps and valves, 2 duplex filters, and an air separator and installed 4 existing tanks. NLI has renovated and modified these tanks by removing all unnecessary attachments and internals, moving manholes, installed inspection hatches on tank tops and installed new nozzles for piping. Furthermore, the tanks were sandblasted and painted according to paint spec. Hydro tested.

Pipe material is SS316L and painted Gr 235 for structural.
NLI has installed control system, 4 outdoor touchscreens, facilities for monitoring of the plant from admin building, SMS-warning in case of leakages, remote control for filling valve, level transmitters, overflow protection, 1 correolis flowmeter, temperature gouges, 5 frequency converters, hook-up of all actuated valves, heat tracing of valves and a complete package of lighting including 3D light simulation.

The following subcontractors has been involved in the scope: NLI Elektrosystemer AS, NLI Grenland (prefab, installation, paint and commissioning), Moss Isolasjonsservice.

Duration: October 2018 – August 2019
