Birkheim Pedestrian Bridge, Sandvika

Project Description

Statens vegvesen is completing the construction of the local roads in Sandvika, and rerouting of the E16 makes it possible to build a continuous local road system, called the Sandvika ring. When the local road network is completed, this will free up large areas on Hamang and in Industriveien that Bærum municipality will use for urban development.

NLI Scope

Fabrication, transport and installation of pedestrian bridge in Sandvika.

The construction is a steel arch bridge with a total weight of 40 tons, length 33.5 meters, and width 5.3 meters.

Due to height challenges in tunnels, among others, parts of curved trusses was transported as loose items and installed at construction site, and trial assembly in terms of dimensions and geometry was executed in workshop prior to transportation to the port of Oslo.
