Bekkelaget Municipal Sewage Treatment Plant, Expansion

Project Description

Bekkelaget sewage treatment plant purifies 40 per cent of Oslo’s sewage. The plant is overloaded and cannot meet new environmental requirements. When the plant was constructed in 2001, it was designed for 270,000 people. Today, sewage for 300,000 people are treated.

The expansion of the plant will increase the capacity to be able to handle sewage from 500,000 people, which is the expected amount of sewage for the year 2040. The plant will be ready for opening in 2020.

NLI Scope

Shop engineering, production, logistics and installation of 300 tons of steel comprising beams, columns, supports, hangers and crane beams. More than 2000 parts installed over a period of two years in tunnels and caverns.
